What Does the Course Cover?

A comprehensive blend of theory and practical learning designed to make you a safe and confident operator.

Theory Module

Covers health & safety regulations (HASAWA 1974, PUWER 1998, LOLER 1998), pre-use inspections, safe operating methods, and hazard awareness.

Practical: 3a (Scissor Lift)

Hands-on training with Mobile Vertical lifts. Learn maneuvering, elevating, and emergency lowering procedures in a controlled environment.

Practical: 3b (Mobile Boom)

Master the articulation of Mobile Booms (Cherry Pickers). Focuses on positioning, outreach, and smooth operation at height.

Assessment & Certification

Includes a theory test (multiple choice) and a practical skills test. Successful candidates receive a digital PAL Card via the ePAL app.

Common questions about the 3a and 3b training day.

Do I need previous experience?

No, the course is designed for both novices and experienced operators. However, if you are a complete novice, let us know so we can ensure extra support.

What PPE do I need to bring?

You must bring safety boots, a hard hat, and a hi-vis vest. For the 3b (Boom) section, a safety harness with an adjustable restraint lanyard is required (we can provide if needed).

Does this cover static booms (1b)?

No, this specific course covers 3a and 3b (Mobile) machines. Static booms (1b) like van-mounts require a separate module, which can sometimes be added.

Is there a theory test?

Yes, there is a multiple-choice theory test in the morning. You must pass this before proceeding to the practical training in the afternoon.
