According to IPAF data, falls from the platform are a major cause of injury and fatality. Awareness and understanding of how to correctly use a harness is critical to the safe operation of boom-type MEWPs.

We offer three distinct harness courses designed to meet the needs of different candidates, from managers planning the work to operators using the equipment and inspectors maintaining it.

Which Course Do You Need?

Select the correct module based on your role:

Harness Awareness (HA)

For Managers & Planners: Theory training on selecting the correct equipment. Can be completed remotely via eLearning.

Theory Only eLearning Available

Harness User (HU)

For Operators: Practical assessment on donning, adjusting, and using a harness. Must complete HA first (or combined).

Practical Add-on to Boom Course

Harness Inspector (HI)

For Safety Inspectors: Advanced training on inspecting PFPE and maintaining legal records. Must hold HA and HU.

What You Will Learn

Our comprehensive syllabus ensures competence in all aspects of harness safety:

  • Identifying correct Personal Fall Protection Equipment (PFPE)
  • Pre-use checks of harness and lanyard
  • Correct fitting and adjustment
  • Manufacturer’s instructions for use and storage
  • Selecting anchor points in a MEWP
  • Conducting periodic inspections (HI course only)
  • Maintaining inspection records (HI course only)
