Career Advancement

As a qualified IPAF Instructor, you will be licensed to deliver IPAF’s industry-leading training programmes for mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs) and mast-climbing work platforms (MCWPs).

This intensive course is designed to assess your knowledge of the machinery and your ability to convey that information effectively to students. It combines advanced theory, practical demonstration skills, and instructional techniques.

Strict Entry Requirements

To maintain high standards, candidates must meet the following criteria before booking:

  • Experience: 36 months’ MEWP operating experience.
  • Licences: IPAF Operator Licence (held for 6 months) & Demonstrator Licence (held for 3 months).
  • Management: Successful completion of IPAF MEWPs for Managers.
  • Teaching: Evidence of Instructional Techniques Training (3 days minimum).
  • Safety: Approved Harness Instructor Course & First Aid at Work evidence.

Course Structure & Assessment

The programme is rigorous and typically spans 5 days, plus mentoring:

Days 1-4: Instruction & Assessment

Intensive training on the IPAF Training Programme workings. Assessment of your machine knowledge and presentation skills.

Day 5: Final Examination

A formal examination performed by an independent IPAF Examiner to verify your competence.

Post-Course: Mentoring

Successful candidates undergo 3 days of mentoring from a senior IPAF Instructor to refine their delivery.
