Beat Fraudsters & Keep Sites Safe

“IPAF is aware of increasingly sophisticated techniques deployed by those trying to circumvent the measures we have in place. We always work hard to respond quickly and effectively, and to crack down on any instances of suspected fraud.”

— Giles Councell, IPAF Director of Operations

End users, supervisors, and managers are kindly reminded to check the validity of all IPAF PAL Cards for operators of MEWPs, MCWPs, and Construction Hoists. Fraudulent activity puts everyone on site at risk.

3 Simple Steps to Verify

1. Online Checker

Visit www.ipaf.org/checkpal. Enter the licence number (e.g., OP/1234567). Ensure the page remains on the official ipaf.org domain.

Check Online

2. ePAL App Scan

The most effective method. Scan the QR code generated in the operator’s ePAL app to view their live digital licence instantly.

3. Contact IPAF

If still in doubt, call IPAF Head Office on +44 (0)15395 66700. The team can quickly confirm if a card is the genuine article.

Physical Card Inspection

Before using the digital tool, perform a visual check of the physical card presented to you:

  • Front: Check the cardholder’s name and photograph match the person.
  • Expiry: Verify the card is in-date and lists the correct machine categories.
  • Hologram: Look for the IPAF logo printed as a hologram at the top left (reverse side).
  • Signature: Ensure the cardholder’s signature or training centre logo is present.

Suspicious Activity?

If you suspect a card is fake or encounter an attempt to circumvent verification, please gather any evidence you can and contact IPAF immediately via www.ipaf.org or +44 (0)15395 66700.
