Instructor Course Details

Course Overview
A 5-day intensive program covering instructional techniques, legislation, machine theory, and the practical delivery of IPAF training courses.
Prerequisites
You must hold a valid IPAF Operator (3a & 3b) and Demonstrator license. You also need approximately 36 months of documented MEWP operating experience.
Instructional Techniques
Learn how to plan lessons, deliver classroom theory effectively, and manage practical training sessions safely in a live environment.
Assessment & Exam
The course concludes with mentored sessions followed by a rigorous examination conducted by an independent IPAF Senior Examiner.

Instructor FAQ
Common questions about becoming a trainer.
Do I need teaching experience?
While not strictly mandatory to enter, having a teaching qualification (like PTLLS or AET) is highly recommended and often required by training centres.
How long is the license valid?
The IPAF Instructor license is valid for 5 years. You must maintain your CPD (Continuing Professional Development) and undergo periodic audits to renew.
Can I train independently?
Yes, but you must either work for an existing IPAF Training Centre or set up your own accredited centre. You cannot issue PAL cards without a centre affiliation.
What if I don’t have a Demonstrator card?
You must obtain the IPAF Demonstrator qualification before attending the Instructor course. We can arrange this for you beforehand.
